SAP S/4HANA cutover: plan, checklist and timeline

An S/4HANA cutover combines Basis work, Migration Cockpit loads, finance period-end and dozens of interface switches inside one weekend. Here is how to sequence it.

S/4HANA-specific steps

  • Freeze and import the final transport queue
  • Load data with the Migration Cockpit in dependency order
  • Open the first posting period and load exchange rates
  • Switch bank, EDI and payroll interfaces
  • Validate Fiori catalogues and roles

Finance cut-off

Close legacy sub-ledgers, run the final payment and depreciation runs, then reconcile the opening trial balance to zero variance before checkpoint 2.
